Nestled in the heart of the historic, Victorian district amidst the lively charm of downtown Breckenridge is Hideaway on High. A city house inspired by ageless tradition and an eclectic interior balance of easy sophistication and rugged Colorado comfort.
Features Description
The entire main level of this modern, two-story home functions as the heart of the home with an epicurean kitchen and two individual living areas gracefully flowing from one to the other. A natural moss rock gas fireplace is the focal point of the Mountain Comfort Room. Rough pine furnishings and matching sofa and loveseat patterned in leather and colorful wildlife scenes are positioned around the firelight. The log accented entertainment center is complete with 32” TV, VCR, and stereo with dual cassettes and CD player. A built-in wet bar with cherry cabinets, granite countertop and sink provides another entertainment amenity. There is a twin sleeper chair in the living room. A radiant, three-sided, gas fireplace adds natural separation as the Mountain Comfort Room drifts into the Country Breeze Retreat. Two full size sofas and matching armchair make a perfect blend of French, country fashion in checkered green and white and lush, floral hews of red wines and vinery greens. The creative coffee table depicts a rocky stream with rainbow trout under it’s glass top. The surrounding sunny windows expose the timelessly classic front and back porches. The gourmet kitchen is any chef’s delight with it’s expansive granite slab countertops and custom cherry cabinets reflecting well-designed stylishness. Fashionably functional stainless steel appliances including a modern wine frig and a huge butcher-block prep island prove just the right elements for composing exquisite delicacies. The butcher-block island also serves as a breakfast bar seating three adjacent to the dining area. The adjoining dining table of rugged, rough pine seats eight. The windows around the table produce an open alcove impression. Just off the kitchen is a half bath, laundry room and mud room combination as well as access to the 2 car garage off the alley entrance. Parking limited to 4 cars. All three bedrooms are on the upstairs level of the Hideaway. Up the stairs on the top level is the Western Huntress Suite reflecting centuries old Native American survival tools and artifacts and the best of modern expression. Vaulted ceilings rise above the wide plank, white pine floors and an abundance of windows showcase grand snowcapped mountain peaks. Relax in the king bed adorned with burgundy and green quilt while gazing into the firelight of the marble encased, gas fireplace. In the corner a decorative, antique armoire functions as an entertainment center with TV/VCR. Nothing says vintage style like the claw-foot tub with gold plated fixtures in the master bath suite. Also complete with oversized glassed-in shower stall and two pedestal sink vanities. From the master suite is access to the Rooftop Terrace, an ultimate city terrace to enjoy pink sunsets over Breckenridge’s trademark Peak 8, a birds eye view of the architectural charm of downtown, or the breathtaking, orange mountain glow of the sunrise – for the ambitious at heart. Whether amidst an après ski troop or happily unaccompanied, this is the essential Hideaway on High. The Wilderness Room is an ideal bedroom for a family or kids of all ages. The wrought iron and cherry wood queen bed is decorated with colorful wilderness scenes of bears, fish, coyotes and moose. The captains bunk with twin on top and double on bottom is also adorned with wild critters. The wide, white pine, plank floors and vaulted ceilings create an open impression. The room is also outfitted with a TV. Hall bath with antique claw-foot tub/shower and vintage pedestal sink shared with the Americana Room. Across the hall is the Americana Room with hand crafted, log queen bed adorned in a patriotic, madras quilt in multi plaid patterns of reds, blues, and earth tones. Rough pine and rugged log furnishings add comfortable, western warmth, while Grizzly and Polar Bear photographs expose the untamed existence of the frontier. The room is also outfitted with a TV. A connecting bath with claw-foot tub/shower shared with Wilderness Room.
